IRISH GOALKEEPER EMMA Byrne has confirmed her move to WSL 2 side Brighton & Hove Albion after leaving Arsenal last year, where she spent the the last 17 years.
The 37-year-old successfully completed a medical at the club earlier today, and has signed an 18-month deal with the south coast side.
The Kildare native won 11 league titles, 10 FA Cups, five League Cups, and one Uefa Women’s Cup during her time with the Gunners, while completing a treble in her debut season, and a quadruple in the 2006-07 campaign, but lost her place to to Dutch goalkeeper Sari van Veenendaal in her last year with the club.
Albion’s first match of the new season is at AFC Wimbledon in the third round of the FA Women’s Cup on Sunday 5 February.
Byrne has won a record 125 caps for Ireland, while picking up the FAI International Player of the Year award in 2012.
