Big news for Irish boxing fans as eir Sport snaps up BoxNation

Garcia v Thurman and Canelo v Chavez Jr on the cards for BoxNation in 2017.

BOXING FANS WILL be able to watch some of 2017′s biggest fights on eir Sport after the broadcaster added BoxNation to its stable.

The boxing channel, which was previously only available on a standalone subscription basis, becomes the seventh channel in eir Sport’s pack.

BoxNation has held exclusive rights to some of the biggest Irish fights of recent years including Carl Frampton’s world title breakthrough win against Kiko Martinez, and Andy Lee’s failed middleweight defence against Billy Joe Saunders.

The announcement will be of immediate interest to Irish fans with BoxNation set to screen the 10 March Belfast card which features both Jamie Conlan and double Olympic medallist Paddy Barnes.

This weekend’s welterweight unification clash between unbeaten duo Danny Garcia and Keith Thurman will be shown on BoxNation on Saturday night as will one of the most eagerly anticipated fights of the year, Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez vs Julio Cesar Chavez Jr on 6 May.

“This announcement further demonstrates eir Sport’s commitment to increasing the breadth of live sports on our pack strengthening our position as Ireland’s number one sports broadcaster,” Glen Killane, MD of eir TV and Sport, said.

Eir Sport pack customers on Sky will have access Box Nation immediately, while the channel will be available to subscribers on eir Vision and the eir Sport app from 9 March.
