Cavani is in terrific form. Michel Euler

Edinson Cavani may not be everyone's favourite player but he's on fire this season

The Uruguayan took his tally to 25 goals in 25 games for club and country with a bicycle kick last night.

EDINSON CAVANI HAS clearly enjoyed taking centre stage with Zlatan Ibrahimovic no longer at Paris Saint-Germain.

The Uruguayan striker, who cost the French champions €64 million when he joined from Napoli in 2013, has moved to a more central role under manager Unai Emery since his former team-mate left for Manchester United in the summer.

The results have been pretty remarkable as he took his tally to 20 goals in as many matches in the 2-2 draw with Ludogorets last night with a top class bicycle kick.

By comparison, he needed 45 matches to reach that milestone last year.

That’s now 14 in Ligue 1 and six in the Champions League, while Cavani has also notched five in five for Uruguay this term to take his total to 25 goals for club and country.
