PETER O’MAHONY’S CONTRACT negotiations appear to be at a stand-still for the time being, and former Ireland head coach Eddie O’Sullivan weighed in on the affair on the latest episode of Close Calls earlier today.

The 28-year-old Munster captain is a vital part of his provincial set-up, but O’Sullivan wondered whether the IRFU would fully appreciate his value in the dressing room.

“He’s probably in the food chain somewhere in the Irish back-row, but the Irish might not see him as critical going forward.”
