ONE STEP CLOSER to winning their third league title on the trot after last night’s results, Dundalk turn their attentions back to Europe this week.

The Louth club defeated Longford Town 3-0 at the City Calling Stadium to relegate the midlanders to the First Division.
That result plus St Patrick’s Athletic’s 3-1 victory against Cork City means the Lilywhites hold a seven-point lead at the top of the table with three games to play.
Attendances at both matches — 369 at Richmond Park and 495 in Longford — were disappointingly-low on Monday, but Dundalk have announced that Thursday’s Europa League game with Zenit St Petersburg is a sell-out.
The Group D leaders, two points ahead of second-placed Dundalk after two matches, visit Tallaght Stadium before the teams meet again in Russia on 3 November.
Stephen Kenny’s side will be aiming to consolidate their current position but he has hinted that he may have to rest a couple of players for the encounter with league games against St Pat’s (Tuesday) and Galway United (Friday) coming up.
