Real Madrid send Sunderland winger Duncan Watmore a surprise letter after latest nightmare

‘REAL MADRID’ AND ‘Duncan Watmore’ are four words you’d never expect to see in the same sentence.

But here we are.

The Sunderland winger has been having some horrible luck with injuries in recent times.

After suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury less than a year ago, the 23-year-old worked his way back to full fitness and returned to action at the end of September.

However, just six games into a return, he ruptured the same knee ligament during a 2-2 draw with Millwall last month.

It’s a nightmare scenario for the former England U23 international, and it seems that Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has got wind of the bad news.

Watmore’s dad Ian tweeted a picture of a letter from the European champions today, which wishes him all the best with his rehabilitation.

Really nice touch.
