DUBLIN AND TIPPERARY paid a poignant tribute to the late Dave Billings ahead of their All-Ireland U21 Football semi-final.

As a minute’s silence was observed before throw-in in O’Connor Park, the UCD players from both counties stood together and linked arms on the half-way line.

Billings, who died suddenly on Wednesday aged 63, was UCD’s GAA officer as well as one of the best-known faces in Dublin GAA.

‘I met Dave first over 50 years ago, he lit a fire in me then and it has burned ever since.’

Connolly on Billings – ‘He was a massive influence for me, he was an exceptional man’
