All-Ireland champs Boden off to a winning start in Dublin SFC, Castleknock stun Plunkett's

The road to Croke Park on St Patrick’s Day begins again…

BALLYBODEN ST ENDA’S opened the defence of their Dublin senior football title with a win this evening.

But the reigning All-Ireland champions were given a stern test by Naomh Olaf before running out 2-12 to 0-12 winners at O’Toole Park.

Boden burst from the traps with two early goals and led by 2-5 to 0-5 at the break.

Olafs did cut the gap to three as the game entered the final 10 minutes but couldn’t get any closer.

Elsewhere, St Oliver Plunkett’s-Eoghan Rua were stunned by Castleknock who won 2-12 to 1-12 in the first part of a Parnell Park double-header, while St Brigid’s were comfortable 3-15 to 2-5 winners against St Maur’s in the evening’s second game.

2012 county champions Ballymun Kickhams beat O’Tooles by a whopping 36 points, 9-15 to 1-3, while there were also wins for Kilmacud Crokes, Na Fianna, Ballinteer St John’s, Parnells and Clontarf.
