THERE WERE THREE big penalty decisions that had a major impact on the result of today’s All-Ireland football semi-final between Dublin and Mayo.
First, Joe McQuillan awarded Dublin a penalty when he adjudged Mayo’s David Drake of fouling Paul Flynn.
However, it appears the foul took place outside the square.
The second saw the Cavan whistle-blower award Dublin a free-out even though it appeared that Aidan O’Shea was fouled in the square.
And, near the end of the game, McQuillan awarded a third penalty to bring Mayo right back into a game they had looked out of just minutes beforehand:
Ref is a joke, Connolly up to his usual sh*t there with his hand on O’Connors neck while he was on the ground, right in front of the ref. I’d be fairly annoyed if I was a Mayo fan with some of the decisions.
have to agree. and a headbutt thrown in same melee by a dub player.
ur having a laugh arnt u ?
is Philly McMahon from the tyrone school of acting? embarrasing
I wonder will he be banned for the final if they win, blatant headbutt caught on the cameras! Just as I type good luck to the kn*cker Connolly, same on the pitch as he is off it.
will we have the same witch hunt more importantly? very much doubt it…
I know I had a good laugh at your comments in the lead up to last week’s match Michael, but you’re dead right. Dublin today did everything Tyrone stood accused of. Let’s see if they’re pursued with the same enthusiasm by the authorities and the media.
i very much doubt it… we’re easy targets in a gaa sense and i very much cant see dublin being sought after too much here! wonder how the sunday game will deal with it :-)
dirty game this tho i doubt it’ll be brought up by many.. headbut, cluxton booting oshea think it was on the ground, another dub player going studds down mayo players leg a d loads of off the ball stuff… plus the sledging!
by the way didnt think that was a black card very harsh considering whats happened previously!
general frustration I reckon
Dessie dolan is pi*ssing me off. He keeps referring to cian o sullivans lack off a black card for the jersey pull but if he bothered to read the rules, pulling a jersey isn’t a black card offence.
football is becoming practically un-reffable
Filthy play by Dublin. If this was Tyrone, Armagh or Kerry the black and yellow cards would be flashed around wildly. Refs constantly favouring Dublin and winning them games. Sickening. Mayo still in this.
Not if it was Kerry in fairness. So many decisions gone their way this year.
Dublin got 2 blacks and a red. Not many teams have got that this year or any
Dublin can count their blessings, psychological boost for Mayo now , ref was poor , Dublin should have had 5 black cards ,
Mayo will win this by 2-3 points as long as the ref steps up against the Dublin fouls.
Have to change the ref did it last year!
Good old two hops mcmanamon!
Thought I imagined that! No chance the commentators or pundits would pick up on dodgy decisions going in Dublin’s favour.
Never do horan mentioned it in the western early the year he ain’t wrong first time on the ball as well!
Ah yes 31 counties against Dublin begins
Dublin and Controversy. Nuf said.
the ref gave mayo everything o Shea thought he was playing rugby barging and diving all the time connolly will be cleared for next Saturday it was nothing like the dig the mayo player threw against Donegal keep on hating muppets
Stop talking sense John the haters don’t like that on here
Have you any spare glasses for Saturday??
What did the Muppets ever do to you? Did Fozzie give you a boo boo?
O Sullivan has be shocking for us, come on KEV
O Carroll opened up and nobody cares of course. Dubs be missing Connolly but Mayo will be without top scorer Joe McQuillan
This article would make you think he favoured Dublin, it was the complete opposite.
Not sure I agree with anything that ‘appeared’ to you Steve! I think these 3 calls were 3 of the very few decisions the ref got right.
Dublin were cynical and horrible to watch at times, but the commentary on here is ridiculous – at the match you could see Mayo were constantly niggling, pushing and shoving off the balll. There were two similar style teams playing there today and the red didn’t handle it at all well
