Hello and welcome to the filling in Semple Stadium sandwich today as Dublin take on Limerick in Round 2 of the All-Ireland senior hurling qualifiers.

We’ll have team news for you just as soon as it comes to hand.

The Dublin team arriving earlier:

Ryan Byrne / INPHO Ryan Byrne / INPHO / INPHO

These two sides have only met five times in championship hurling before today and though Limerick lead the series 4-1, it was Dublin who came out on top last time out:

2011 – Dublin 3-13 Limerick 0-18
2009 – Limerick 2-18 Dublin 1-17
2006 – Limerick 2-16 Dublin 1-13
1934 – Limerick 5-2 Dublin 2-6
1921 – Limerick 8-5 Dublin 3-2

Ger Cunningham tells RTÉ he expects a “huge game” from Dublin today while TJ Ryan says he’s told his players to “play the Limerick way”.

Ten minutes to throw-in now.

We’re just under way in Semple.

Limerick 0-1 Dublin 0-0

Good start for Limerick with a long range score from Paudie O’Brien.

Limerick 0-2 Dublin 0-0

Shane Dowling taps over the game’s first free.

Limerick 0-2 Dublin 0-0

Both sides exchange wides and, in the very early stages, it’s Limerick dominating possession.

Limerick 0-2 Dublin 0-1

Ryan O’Dwyer puts Dublin on the scoreboard with a long range effort.

Limerick 0-2 Dublin 0-1

The quality of shooting has been poor so far with both sides guilty of speculative efforts from distance when there were better options available.

Limerick 0-3 Dublin 0-1

A 65 for Dowling to add to his earlier free. 11 minutes gone.

Limerick 0-4 Dublin 0-1

Kevin Downes scores from a tight angle, probably the point of the game so far which isn’t saying much given the quality on offer. Conditions are difficult mind.

Limerick 0-4 Dublin 0-1

O’Brien with Limerick’s seventh wide of the game already. Dublin have four of their own.

Fintan O’Toole here in Thurles, poor opening fare in the first quarter from both sides who look low in confidence. Limerick seem stronger but their shooting is crippling them with six wides so far.

Limerick 0-4 Dublin 0-2

Paul Ryan scores Dublin’s second from a free. Limerick should be much further ahead.

Limerick 0-5 Dublin 0-2

Graeme Mulcahy makes it a three-point game again.

Limerick 0-6 Dublin 0-2

Dowling nails another 65.

An idea of the conditions in Semple

James Crombie / INPHO James Crombie / INPHO / INPHO

Limerick 0-7 Dublin 0-2

Beautiful sideline cut from Declan Hannon and Limerick are starting to make their dominance tell on the scoreboard.

GOAL! Limerick 1-7 Dublin 0-2

Limerick 1-8 Dublin 0-3

David Breen with the game’s first goal, turning Liam Rushe inside out before burying the sliotar in the back of the net.

Daire Plunkett gets a point back at the other end but Hannon grabs another Limerick point.

Limerick 1-8 Dublin 0-4

Paul Ryan points his second free.

SUB: 25. David ‘Dotsy’ O’Callaghan comes on in place of Eamon Dillon for Dublin.

Limerick 1-8 Dublin 0-5

Ryan scores his first point from play and his third overall.

Limerick 1-8 Dublin 0-6

Another Ryan free reduces the gap to five points. Dublin have scored three on the bounce now.

Limerick 1-8 Dublin 0-7

Make that four, Mark Schutte with his first score of the game. Limerick have fallen asleep since the goal and, instead of putting Dublin to the sword, they’ve allowed Ger Cunningham’s men into the game.

SUB: 16. Barry Hennessy comes on for Nickie Quaide in the Limerick goal. We think it may just be a blood injury.

Limerick 1-8 Dublin 0-7

Limerick haven’t scored in the last ten minutes of the half and have just struck their 11th wide. Worrying stuff for TJ Ryan.

HALF-TIME - Limerick 1-8 Dublin 0-7

Limerick should be much further ahead in this one but Paul Ryan’s free-taking combined with their own inaccuracy in front of goal means Dublin are still very much in this game.

You may have missed this in the first half, but here’s what happened Limerick manager TJ Ryan when he tried to celebrate his side winning a sideline ball.

RTE RTE

Limerick 1-8 Dublin 0-8

There’s just a goal between the teams now with Paul Ryan firing over another point.

Limerick 1-8 Dublin 0-9

Ryan scores another one from play. That’s six without reply for Limerick.

Limerick 1-8 Dublin 0-10

If Shane Dowling is missing scoreable frees then Limerick are in real trouble. The Shannonsiders could really do with a score. They lead by the minimum after Ryan points his seventh down the other end.

Limerick 1-8 Dublin 0-11

And Ryan — who else? — scores again. The sides are level.

Dublin 0-12 Limerick 1-8

Ryan makes it nine points without reply for Dublin from a very, very soft free and they lead for the first time in the game.

Dublin 0-12 Limerick 1-9

Dowling gets Limerick’s first score since the 27th minute but it’s the last action he’ll see in the game as TJ Ryan takes him off.

SUBS: 19. Dan Morrissey and 21. Sean Tobin on for Wayne McNamara and the aforementioned Dowling.

Limerick 1-10 Dublin 0-12

Seanie Tobin takes over the free-taking duties from Dowling and Limerick lead again.

Limerick 1-11 Dublin 0-12

Seanie Tobin’s made an impact since he came on, Limerick lead by two with twenty minutes remaining.

SUB: Josey Boland is on for Niall Corcoran for Dublin.

Limerick 1-12 Dublin 0-12

That’s three on the spin for Seanie Tobin and Limerick’s lead is a goal again.

Limerick 1-12 Dublin 0-13

There was a goal there for the taking for Daire Plunkett but he takes his point. The gap is two.

Limerick 1-12 Dublin 0-14

Paul Ryan is having some afternoon and he scores his 10th point.

Limerick 1-13 Dublin 0-14

After Dublin spurn another coal chance, Limerick point at the other end and that really is a four point swing.

SUB: 22. Donal O’Grady replaces David Breen for Limerick while Conal Keaney goes off for Dublin to be replaced by 10. Cian Boland.

YELLOW: Cian Boland and Danny Sutcliffe pick up the game’s first yellow cards.

GOAL! Dublin 0-14 Limerick 1-13

Dublin 1-14 Limerick 1-13

Dotsy O’Callaghan with the goal for Dublin after a horrible mix-up in the Limerick defence — just like against Tipperary — and Ger Cunningham’s men lead by one with seven to play.

Dublin 1-14 Limerick 1-14

Seanie Tobin levels things up with a free.

Dublin 1-16 Limerick 1-14

Dublin lead by two point, Cian Boland and Paul Ryan with the scores.

Dublin 1-16 Limerick 1-15

Seanie Tobin makes it a one point game.

Dublin 1-16 Limerick 1-15

Three minutes of added time to come.

Dublin 1-17 Limerick 1-15

Paul Ryan with his 12th!

Dublin 1-17 Limerick 1-16

Sean Tobin points a free.

RED: Chris Crummey picks up his second yellow and is sent off.

FULL-TIME! Dublin 1-17 Limerick 1-16

Dublin get the one point win.

Paul Ryan was simply magnificent but Limerick’s dozen first half wides have knocked them out of the championship.

That’s all from me for this game but I’ll have all the action from Cork v Clare in just a minute.

Thanks as always for joining us.
