THE FOCUS FOR Dublin and Mayo this week is firmly on next Sunday’s All-Ireland senior football final.
But before the conclusion of the 2016 season comes the identity of the All-Ireland finalists early opponents in the 2017 Allianz football league.
The provisional fixtures for next year’s league have been published this morning in the Irish Independent.
Dublin are pencilled in for an away trip to Cavan – promoted this year from Division 2 – on Sunday 5 February while Mayo are down to entertain Monaghan on Saturday 4 February.
The other opening weekend games in Round 1 are slated to be Donegal at home to Kerry and Tyrone at home to Roscommon.
A repeat of the All-Ireland final between Dublin and Mayo is provisionally fixed for Saturday 4 March.
