Lucy Mulhall put the disappointment of a controversial late missed conversion in yesterday’s draw with Fiji behind her, but Kim Flood shared kicking responsibilities and helped Anthony Eddy’s side open up a 14  - 0 lead by half-time.

Aoife Doyle ensured Ireland hit the ground running in the second half too, as she darted for a corner score which set up a brilliant touchline conversion from Flood. Nicole Heavirland struck back for the American women, but Hannah Tyrell crossed for Ireland’s fourth score of the game to seal a 28 – 5 victory.

The Challenge Trophy Final is scheduled to kick off at 12.25 (Irish time) today and can be streamed on WorldRugby.org.
