AFTER A WOBBLE, Borussia Dortmund got back to winning ways on Saturday with a 2-0 win at Mainz – thanks to goals from Marco Reus and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
It had been a strange few weeks for the club. The season had started brilliantly with new coach Thomas Tuchel but a 2-2 draw with Darmstadt was followed by a 1-1 Europa League setback in Greece against PAOK. Then came the humiliating 5-1 loss against Bayern.

But, against Tuchel’s former club, they bounced back. Reus grabbed the opener after 17 minutes – his first goal since August. Later, the German attacker could’ve doubled the lead but missed from the penalty spot.
Still, with eight minutes left, Mkhitaryan popped up to ensure the three points – his first goal since 12th September.
It was a strange feeling for Tuchel, returning to the club he’d spent five years at previously.
“I had never been in the underground car park and I had never stood on the right hand side of the touchline”, he said afterwards.
“It was a special experience and for a while it all felt very strange.”
Dortmund trail Bayern by four points, with Pep Guardiola’s side in action away to Werder Bremen today.
