KIERAN DONAGHY LED the charge for St Brendan’s Tralee as they prevailed in the men’s national intermediate club championships final today.

The former Gaelic footballer of the year was named MVP following his triple double as St Brendan’s eased to a 78-60 against BC Leixlip Nemunas at the National Basketball Arena.

The full-forward registered 18 points, 24 rebounds and 11 assists in a commanding performance only hours before his Kerry team-mates were due to get their National Football League campaign under way against Dublin in Croke Park.

St Brendan’s were heavy favourites to take the inaugural cup final and they justified the tag with a comfortable victory against their Kildare opposition.
