Liverpool will pay Chelsea around £3m for England U21 striker

19-year-old Dominic Solanke is set to join the Reds on 1 July.

LIVERPOOL HAVE ANNOUNCED that they are signing 19-year-old English striker Dominic Solanke.

The teenager, who is believed to be wanted by a host of clubs including Celtic and RB Leipzig, has opted to turn down a new contract with Chelsea and he becomes a free agent next month.

However, due to his age, the Reds will have to pay the English top flight champions a compensation fee before he arrives on 1 July. The figure will be determined by a Premier League tribunal, and is expected to be around £3 million.

Solanke was one of the stars of Chelsea’s reserve team which won back to back FA Youth Cups in 2014 and 2015.

The England U21 international, who is currently at the U20 World Cup, spent the 2015/16 season on loan at Dutch side Vitesse Arnhem — scoring seven goals in 25 Eredivisie appearances.
