Leicester lock gets a one-week ban for this punch against Saracens

Dom Barrow is free to play in the Champions Cup next week.

LEICESTER LOCK DOM Barrow has been suspended for one week for “striking an opponent” during his side’s defeat to Saracens in the Premiership last weekend.

The incident took place in the second half of Saracens’ 26-6 victory at Allianz Park, with Barrow reacting after Maro Itoje held him off the ball on the ground behind a maul.

Barrow was cited under Law 10.4(a), for striking, and was yesterday banned for one week. The promising 22-year-old lock is free to play again from 12 January.

The former Newcastle second row has featured in all four of the Tigers’ Champions Cup games so far this season, coming off the bench in both of the December wins against Munster.

Having been cleared to return next week, Barrow will hope to feature as Leicester welcome Treviso to Welford Road on 16 January as they attempt to make it five wins from five games in Pool 4.
