Here's why Chelsea's Diego Costa faces a four-game ban

The striker clashed with Martin Skrtel during Saturday’s lunchtime game and drove his studs into the centre-back’s chest as the pair grappled on the ground.

IT’S NEVER-ENDING for Chelsea.

On top of their on-pitch struggles, their on-going dispute with former team doctor Eva Carneiro and the rumours of star players wanting out, they could be without striker Diego Costa for four games.

During Saturday’s 3-1 defeat to Liverpool, the Spanish international clashed with Martin Skrtel and as the pair fell to the ground, the striker seemed to drive his studs into the defender’s chest.

Referee Mark Clattenburg took no action at the time but it seems inevitable the FA will investigate.

Costa has already served a three-game suspension earlier in the season for striking Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny – a punishment that was handed out retrospectively.

This latest incident would see him get a four-match ban – three for the challenge and an additional one because of his previous conviction.
