TWO PREMIER LEAGUE icons went head-to-head in slightly different surroundings last night as the MLS meeting between the LA Galaxy and Montreal Impact ensured Steven Gerrard and Didier Drogba crossed paths in the league for the very first time.
But, it was very much an anti-climax as the game finished scoreless.
The Ivorian has already made his presence felt since joining the Canadian side and conjured a hat-trick on his very first start against Chicago last week. But playing his first away fixture in Carson, California, he failed to muster a similar calibre performance.
Still, late on, he did have a fine chance to grab a winner but his left-foot strike drifted just wide of the far post.
After a bright start to his MLS career, Gerrard has faded somewhat in recent weeks. In eight appearances so far in the league, heโs managed one goal and three assists and his only real meaningful contribution last night was a dangerous cross whipped to the far post though Keane couldnโt quite get his subsequent effort on target.
Keane came close to scoring late in the opening period too but Evan Busch made a good close-range stop as the veteran tried to clip it over the advancing goalkeeper.
The biggest moment of the game came within the opening exchanges when Montrealโs Justin Mapp curled a shot towards the far corner only for Donovan Ricketts to conjure a decent stop.
MLS is divided into an East and West conference and the 0-0 result leaves the Galaxy third in the latter division, just a point behind current leaders Vancouver.
Montreal are in sixth in the Eastern standings with the top-six from each conference making the post-season play-offs.
Wife? 21? Really?
The wags are getting them locked down young
When I was 21 I was blowing shit up in the microwave ala Ian Henderson in a student house
Anthony Martial is married with two kids at 19. She knewโฆ
Coutinho been married since he was 19 too I believe.
Check her out, sheโs an absolute lasher. Iโd be wifing that at 21 as well.
Image of Bale
Letโs hope he will be as good as Bale !
They say supposedly thereโs around 7 people in the world who look exactly like you..
Yip. Lucky enough that mine is Ryan Gosling
:D
Heโd make more money as an impersonator
Or even league one. Being on the books at a top prem club then going to league two is a massive drop down
And probably offers us an insight into the actual level that this fella is at. Heโs not going to league 2 for any other reason than he didnโt have any other options. He might rebound in a few years but Iโve a feeling that looking like Bale will be as close to a top footballer that he may ever be and I mean that as no slight against him, the odds of making it at the top level of football are in the high millions.
Jamie Vardy. โฆ.
Surely he could have been picked up by a championship club rather than having to drop down to league 2
Why would that be?
You would think that. But here we are.
And york city are in last place
Plot twist, Kenny is actually playing for Madrid and Bale is off to the metropolis of York.
So it was Kenny who got Wales to euro 2016!!!
Give him time, Alan Judge was in a similar situation when Blackburn. Now PL teams are interested in signing him.
Hope ha can play like bale
