Drogba continues superb MLS form as Montreal conjure brilliant play-off performance

Toronto suffered a humbling 3-0 loss as the Impact tore them to shreds.

SOME HIGH-PROFILE names have already suffered MLS embarrassment this season but Didier Drogba has his eyes fixed on the big prize and is determined to push his side to glory.

Last night, he scored his 12th goal in ten starts for Montreal Impact as they thumped Canadian rivals Toronto FC 3-0 to make it through to the Eastern Conference semi-final.

All three goals came in a whirlwind twenty-minute spell during the first-half, as the hosts tore TFC to shreds.

They were in front after 18 minutes, as the guests were badly exposed on the counter-attack. The superb Ignacio Piatti slipped a ball through for Canadian international Patrice Bernier and he slotted home.

Piatti scored the second himself, making the most of a dreadful error in the Toronto defence while Drogba popped up with his customary strike six minutes later, arriving perfectly at the far post to finish neatly.

The win means Montreal will take on Columbus Crew in the semi-finals, with a decider to come against either DC United or New York Red Bulls.
