Diarmuid Connolly slapped with proposed 12-week ban for incident with linesman

The proposed ban would rule the St Vincent’s forward out until a potential All-Ireland semi-final.

DUBLIN FORWARD DIARMUID Connolly has been hit with a proposed 12-week ban for his altercation with linesman Ciaran Brannigan in Saturday night’s Leinster SFC quarter-final against Carlow.

An appeal from the Dublin camp is highly likely, but the proposed ban would rule the St Vincent’s forward out until a potential All-Ireland semi-final.

Connolly was seen on TV pushing the official by the shoulder after a lineball call was given against Dublin.

Croke Park’s Central Competitions Control Committee (CCCC) met today and proposed the 12-week suspension, it’s understood.

A 12-week ban is the minimum that can be handed down for a “minor interference” with an official according to the GAA’s official rule book.
