Denis Leamy leads Clonmel to remarkable Munster three-in-a-row

A victory against Abbeyfeale saw the club claim another Junior League Division 1 title.

FORMER IRELAND INTERNATIONAL Denis Leamy has further enhanced his reputation as a coach after leading Clonmel RFC to a third successive Munster Junior League Division 1 crown.

The club won the league for the first time in 2015 under Leamy’s stewardship and they have since consolidated their standing as a side to be feared in the province.

Clonmel’s latest triumph came thanks to a 21-5 victory against Limerick’s Abbeyfeale at Clanwilliam in Tipperary town, as the reigning champions’s home ground was deemed unplayable.

Cashel man Leamy, who was also a member of the backroom team for the All-Ireland-winning Tipperary hurlers last year, has made quite an impact at the club who will now once again represent the province in the All-Ireland League round-robin playoffs.

Clonmel have been putting impressive underage structures in place for years and are now reaping the rewards at senior level, while the professionalism Leamy has brought to the first team has also been repeatedly praised.
