2-1 Win ✅ Premier League Debut✅ Dream Come True ✅ #COYI
— Declan Rice (@_DeclanRice) May 21, 2017
IRELAND UNDERAGE INTERNATIONAL Declan Rice was handed a Premier League debut in West Ham’s 2-1 win over Burnley today.
18-year-old Rice, who can play defence or midfield, replaced Edimilson Fernandes in the 91st minute at Turf Moor this afternoon.
Born in London, he qualifies to represent the Boys in Green through his Irish-born grandparents.
“Declan is very good for his age,” manager Slaven Bilic said of Rice during the week. “He is extremely good, he is mature and it’s all based on the training and he plays very well for the U23s. He has a bright future in him and it’s all down to him.”
Today’s landmark continues a memorable few months for Rice, who was named Ireland U17 International Player of the Year back in March, while in the same month, he penned a new three-and-a-half year contract with the Hammers.

You have to feel for Ukraine ………but …… as heartless as is sounds …….this is a football match .
This ain’t Eurovision !
@conex: Not heartless at all. Can’t give them a free pass on everything!!
@Ian Hoey: Really weird nastiness from a lot of Irish people online to this. Really weird nastiness about Ukraine in general.
@James Carew: met a couple from Ukraine on holidays in Montenegro yesterday. They were utter self serving smug smucks. So don’t believe everything you hear about Ukraine.
@James Carew: and yes you might wonder why Ukrainian folks are going on holidays in the middle of a war. They did take offense when I asked them that exact question.
@Fintan O’Halloran: So would anyone don’t you think?
@Fintan O’Halloran: why should we believe what you have to say then? I’m not even sure what your point is. You say you met two smug Ukrainians on holiday. And?
@Fintan O’Halloran: what a bizarre comment. Putin fan are you?
@James Carew: You’ll get that everywhere to be honest. A dribble of single country immigration is unnoticed but a flood disrupts the identity of places. It’s a huge overreaction but that is human psychology and the post-Celtic Tiger Irish flood into Australia had plenty of ill will and discrimination. In terms of support for Ukraine, I’m fairly sure most people don’t agree with the war. However, anyone with a bit of introspection should feel very uncomfortable about the West’s reaction to this vs Syria, Lebanon, Afghanistan, South Sudan, etc. The only thing the West has in common with Ukraine is skin tone and a strategic benefit from a weakened Russia. We do nothing for other war torn countries and then make up new rules for refugees from Ukraine. Those in DP centres must be going mad!
@Fintan O’Halloran: You asked them that and you think they were the rude ones? I’m sure they’re now going back to tell their Ukranian friends that the Irish aren’t as nice as everyone says….
@Fintan O’Halloran: just maybe they are from the Donbas and are actually pro Russian
@Fintan O’Halloran: you met two Ukrainians you didn’t like so let’s completely reverse the narrative. That’s some dumb logic right there. I know loads of very nice people from the country, who were not on holiday, just living in the countries where I met them. I wouldn’t hold it against any of them for getting away for a bit if they can. They’ve probably been through more than you. How about every country has their good and their bad? Crazy concept right.
Delighted to see Bale play a World Cup! Some of the best, George Best for example, didn’t get that opportunity unfortunately.
@Burt Macklin: dbx very true and Liam brady also ..
@Burt Macklin: delighted to see Bale play a game!
So they only have the Eurovision and no fix this time
Nice to see Wales supporting carlow today. Tailteann Cup is reaching far and wide
Well done Wales
Congrats Wales…unlucky Ukraine…Fulham…don’t be getting too comfy with Neco, he’s only on loan, played very well tonite!
Wonder was the VAR official from Russia when he failed to see a foul on Yarmalenko, did not advise the ref. to check in on the mniter.
@Declan Sweeney: he wasn’t. You can stop wondering.
I’m surprised they think qualifying for the world cup is bigger than making the semis of a Euros
