David Villa produces a stunning goal from 50 yards out

But the goalkeeper probably should have done more to deny the former Barcelona striker.

DAVID VILLA SCORED an early contender for MLS goal of the season last night as his New York City side recorded a 2-0 win over Philadelphia Union.

In the final minute of normal time, Villa struck from 50 yards out after Jack Harrison had put NYC in front in the 52nd minute of their sixth game of the campaign.

It was sublime execution from the former Valencia and Barcelona striker, but are we being harsh by suggesting that goalkeeper Andre Blake should have done a little better?
