Pocock escapes a citing following incident in win against Wales

Pocock appeared to strike Scott Baldwin with his knee.

DAVID POCOCK WILL be breathing a sigh of relief this morning, after he avoided a citing for potential dangerous play against Wales.

The Wallabies backrower, who leads the turnovers table on 10 following the pool stage, appeared to strike Welsh hooker Scott Baldwin with his knee in the 10th minute of Australia’s 15-6 win on Saturday.

Baldwin appeared to be holding the Australian’s leg as he attempted to leave a ruck, before Pocock turned and struck the player into the chest to free himself.

But after the 36-hour window to cite players following a game passed, the Australian will be free to play in this Sunday’s quarter-final against Scotland, should he be passed fit.

Pocock left the game with a calf injury during the second half, but it’s believed he will be available for the game against Scotland, which will also see his backrow partner Michael Hooper return, following his one week suspension.
