A SERIES OF injuries has hampered David McGoldrickโs progress at club and international level in recent years.
The forward returned from yet another injury setback in Ipswichโs loss to Newcastle United last weekend, but the 28-year-old was back on the scoresheet in the Championship yesterday to give Mick McCarthyโs side a share of the spoils in the 2-2 draw against Rotherham United.
His 95th minute strike moved the Tractor Boys up to 15th place, six points behind Bristol City in the last play-off position.
With Robbie Keane now retired from international duty and Shane Long struggling with a hamstring injury, news of McGoldrickโs second goal of the season will be welcomed by manager Martin OโNeill, with Irelandโs last qualifier of 2016 against Austria just under two weeks away.

We need all the ammunition we can get. Heโs doing himself favours ahead of our crunch Austrian clash.
Headline: English born, irish striker scores second goal of the championship season. Wow! the ROI is flooded with top strikers now!
Lold. Heโs an average striker at best but weโll take what we can get I suppose. Donโt understand why some of the loi lads donโt get a look in.
Heโs a decent record and is technically good too,Leicester wanted him when they were promoted,Iโm a LOI fan but heโs certainly a few steps ahead of LOI.Horgan should definitely be in the next squad though, donโt think heโd start but him and Brady on each wing could give us the control and killer instinct wev been missing out wide for the past few years.
Not true William, and how do you come to this conclusion about a player who hasnโt had a decent run of games because he has been plagued by injury after injury for 4 years. He knows how to find the back of the net, good first touch, and distribution, on his day a handful for any defence.
Iit would be great if he could stay injury free for Ipswich and Ireland but he has had so many setbacks Iโm not so confident.
Fair points lads. Right too
Is the Austria game home or away ? If itโs away I expect a gruelling hard to watch attempt to snatch a 0-0. If itโs at home with injuries between now & thenโฆ. I pretty much expect the same . Kick the can down the street and hope for better in the latter games . Thatโs the approach I expect . Just my opinion thoughโฆ.
Itโs away. In Vienna
