David Luiz had some seriously impressive stats on his Chelsea return last night

The Brazil international was top of the list on several aspects of the match for the Londoners.

CHELSEA MAY HAVE lost 2-1 at home to Liverpool last night, but the performance of new signing David Luiz was one reason for optimism.

Luiz, in his second spell at the club, appeared to adjust seamlessly to life back at Stamford Bridge.

The Brazil international was top of the list on several aspects of the match for Chelsea, and was clearly keen to make a positive impression on his second debut for the club.

Sky pundit Graeme Souness clearly wasn’t too impressed, however, suggesting that Luiz still hasn’t answered the doubters.

Jamie Carragher was similarly critical, saying Luiz is “not a Conte centre-back” and suggesting the club only signed him when their search for a centre-back grew desperate.

Liverpool put up some big stats against Burnley. Stats do no get you points. Scoring more than the other, at least tying gets you points.

No, they are goals. Points are points. Stats are the lil things that make them happen.
