4-4 for David Clifford today, that makes 10-68 for Kerry in 12 minor champ games across 2016 and 2017. 10-50 of that from play. Some talent.
As well as his huge tally, Clifford laid on Fiáchra Clifford’s first goal with a sumptuous pass in the opening period.
It was a coming of age performance from the IT Tralee student, who has been heavily linked with a move to Australia, although no official approach has been made yet.
“Words can’t actually describe it to be honest about it,” he told TG4 after the game. “I don’t actually have a clue what to say. We knew we were going to get a tough test from Derry, we were probably in fear of their defending but we trusted ourselves.

“Peter (Keane) had great faith in us and we knew we had great faith in them. A final was all about putting a performance in and everyone can see that’s exactly what we did.
He added: “We were actually expecting a more defensive set-up from Derry, but maybe it’s a good thing they didn’t do it.”
