“You’d always be a bit disappointed you don’t get in the Irish squad, but at the same time it’s shown how far the league has come that League of Ireland players are being pushed for it now,” Horgan told RTE.
“I suppose the European exploits are helping. Obviously I’m a small bit disappointed, but he has his reasons.”

Dundalk came from behind to secure three points, with Horgan impressed by how Stephen Kenny’s side responded to their 1-1 midweek draw with Shamrock Rovers.
“It was a really good performance right through the team,” the Galway native said.
“I thought we played well on Tuesday, but tonight we played with a real will to win and put in a good performance.
“I thought we started well, but it’s brilliant to get the goals back right off the bat. We really put the extra effort in for that 20 minutes. It was a great win.”
