Darron Gibson could be offered a lifeline by David Moyes before the window shuts

Sunderland are reportedly keen on the Irish midfielder.

DARRON GIBSON HAS emerged as a transfer target for Premier League strugglers Sunderland with David Moyes reportedly set to hand the Irish midfielder a lifeline.

The 29-year-old hasn’t featured for Everton under Ronald Koeman this season after a couple of injury-plagued years at Goodison Park.

Despite signing a new two-year contract with the Toffees last summer, the Ireland international doesn’t appear to be in Koeman’s plans and Moyes is hopeful of bringing Gibson to the Stadium of Light.

The former Everton manager brought Gibson to the club back in 2012 and clearly holds him in high regard as he looks to add Premier League experience to his squad ahead of a relegation dogfight.

Patrick van Aanholt’s impending move to Crystal Palace is set to free up funds for Moyes and he has identified Gibson and Costa Rica international Bryan Oviedo has two primary targets before the window shuts.

Moyes has already added Joleon Lescott to his squad this week with Sunderland currently rooted to the foot of the Premier League table.
