EVERTON’S DARRON GIBSON has been called up to the Republic of Ireland squad for the upcoming Euro 2016 qualifiers against Germany and Poland.

The midfielder has been plagued by injury and made his first competitive appearance since March when he came off the bench in the 3-2 win over West Brom on Monday.

Gibson was an unused sub for the Toffees’ 1-1 draw with Liverpool at Goodison Park on Sunday.

It remains to be seen whether his club-mate Seamus Coleman will play any part in Thursday’s clash with the Germans.

He wasn’t even included in the Everton squad for the derby clash, having struggled with a hamstring injury for the last three weeks.

Gibson’s last appearance for Ireland was in the 1-0 defeat to Scotland at Celtic Park last November.
