Young Ireland fan is absolutely made-up after surprise visit from Darren Randolph

Seven-year-old Cathal Byrne from Wicklow was left speechless when he received a bit of good news from the goalkeeper.

IRELAND GOALKEEPER DARREN Randolph gave one young fan a day to remember when he paid Cathal Byrne a surprise visit recently.

Randolph call up Darren and Cathal at the FAI's National Training Centre.

As part of Three’s #TheCallUp campaign, the West Ham stopper caught the seven-year-old completely off-guard after showing up in the press conference room at the FAI’s National Training Centre in Dublin.

Cathal, who lives with a co-ordination disorder known as dyspraxia, is a keen footballer and explained to Randolph that his favourite position is between the sticks.

And the Boys in Green fan couldn’t believe his luck when his fellow Wicklow native revealed that he will be leading the Ireland team out at the Aviva Stadium as mascot for this Sunday’s World Cup qualifier against Austria.

His face is priceless…
