Darren Hughes has the final say on Tiernan McCann's 'Hairgate' dive

The Monaghan man sees the funny side of things.

DARREN HUGHES HAS weighed in on Saturday’s ‘Hairgate’ kerfuffle.

The Monaghan star was sent off in the dying minutes of the All-Ireland quarter-final defeat against Tyrone when he reached out and ruffled Tiernan McCann’s hair.

McCann threw himself to the ground, and was blasted as ‘embarrassing’ and ‘shameful’ for diving to get an opponent sent off.

Hughes responded earlier on Sunday morning by tweeting this photo of himself lying in bed with his puppy Mila.

He wrote: “Playing with Mila’s hair this past 20 mins and she hasn’t budged! #puppystrong”

That deserves to be the final word on this matter.
