IRISH U21 INTERNATIONAL Darragh Lenihan was left with a nasty war wound after Blackburn Rovers’ 3-0 win against Fulham on Tuesday night.

Lenihan threw his head in to win the ball ahead of Jamie O’Hara in the 67th minute, but ended up being caught by O’Hara’s boot which left the 21-year-old Dunboyne native with a sizeable gash in his head.

Blackburn’s official Twitter account asked Lenihan how he was recovering afterwards, and he confirmed that even though he finished out the game, the wound required 20 stitches.

Lenihan has been making a good impression under Paul Lambert at Ewood Park lately, starting in midfield in six of Blackburn’s last seven games.

Irish international Shane Duffy scored one of their three goals against Fulham on Tuesday, as 18th-placed Rovers won in the Championship for the first time in 10 games.
