The former Liverpool centre-back’s joke backfired.

DANNY SIMPSON PRODUCED an outstanding comeback after his spell with Manchester United was mocked by Jamie Carragher.

The Leicester City full-back spent some seven years at Old Trafford after emerging through the club’s academy although made just three Premier League appearances.

Simpson subsequently left to join Newcastle United after an initial loan spell back in 2010, before making the move to Leicester in 2014 after a season at QPR.
