'He's going to have a very good career' - Rodgers heaps praise on Ireland teenager

Dubliner Daniel Cleary could make his competitive debut for the Reds in the Europa League tonight.

LIVERPOOL MANAGER BRENDAN Rodgers has praised Daniel Cleary and predicted that the Ireland youth international “is going to have a very good career in the game.”

Defender Cleary, 19, is making strides at Anfield and was an unused substitute in the Reds’ 1-1 Europa League draw against Bordeaux.

The Dubliner has also been included in the provisional panel for tonight’s clash against Sion (8.05pm) and will make his competitive debut if picked.

“Daniel is a very good player, he is going to have a very good career in the game. He is very committed,” Rodgers told reporters.

I have seen developments in my time, as a young player, I’ve seen him improve.

“I’m sure if he doesn’t get the game time here at the moment there will probably be a loan period for him.

“But in the mean time he is playing in the Under-21s and playing very well.”
