'Sorry Pep, I've come here to be a champion' - Dani Alves chooses PSG move over Man City

The Brazilian full-back has signed a two-year deal at the Ligue Un giants.

DANI ALVES HAS signed for Paris Saint-Germain and agreed a two-year contract with Unai Emeryโ€™s men.

PSG confirmed they have signed the former Barcelona and Juventus star this afternoon.

The defender, 34, was linked to Manchester City and a reunion with ex-Barca boss Pep Guardiola for much of the transfer window but has instead opted to move to France.

Alves was allowed to leave Champions League finalists Juventus with a year left on his contract after the 2016/17 season, in which he won Serie A and the Coppa Italia.

PSG will attempt to win back the Ligue 1 title from last seasonโ€™s surprise champions Monaco and Alves is their second signing of the transfer window after left-back Yuri Berchicheโ€™s arrival from Real Sociedad.

Alves apologised to Guardiola and City for snubbing the Premier League club, but claims he has joined PSG โ€œto be a championโ€.

โ€œIf Pep Guardiola and Manchester City feel hurt, I am sorryโ€ฆ I have come here to be a champion,โ€ Alves told a news conference.

He added: โ€œIโ€™ve had the pleasure of winning the Champions League three times and I want to bring my experience here.โ€

Guardiola had let right-backs Bacary Sagna and Pablo Zabaleta leave City at the end of their contracts and Alves appeared set to join the Premier League side, with his change of heart reportedly shocking the Premier League club.

Prior to his sole campaign at Juve, Alves had previously spent eight successful seasons with Barcelona, winning LaLiga six times and the Champions League on three occasions.

Sevilla and Bahia are his other two professional clubs, while he reached 100 caps for Brazil last year.

The only reason they won the six nations last year is because Scotland and ourselves played the majority of the game with 14 or less men and they were awarded the most dubious of tries against England with the water carriers and medical staff still on the pitch.

@Peter Dunne: Definitely got a good bit more than a slice of luck, but at the same time you make your own too at times and can only play whats infront of you. Players like LRZ, L.Williams, J Tips, AWJ, Wyn Jones, Faletau, Navidi etc were incredible through out for them.

Wales weโ€™re poor really. Fiji weโ€™re unlucky, played well. Rees-Zammitโ€™s try should not have been given, he was clearly not in control of the ball on (attempted) touchdown.

@Teddy Oโ€™Brien: In fairness as Berry said, all they look for is separation with the ball and there was none. I partly agree with you tho as the ball rolled up from his palm to wrist, but thatโ€™s still contact I guessโ€ฆ Still he probably deserved it for the effort alone. The speed he has is freakishly good.

@Teddy Oโ€™Brien: The 2000s called, they want their laws back. There doesnโ€™t need to be control.

Hopefully the new Super Rugby team can help Fiji progress. The talent is there for them to be a real powerhouse, just need funding to build a genuine international set up!

@Jonny Walls: Could it be a tactic? To orchestrate situations where an opposition player has a high risk of fouling. Theoretically, it could be easy enough to do.

Sau is clearly a bit of an id iot, has a recent history of nasty tackles. Tried to take the head off Connachtโ€™s Niall Murray with a late hit in Touch last season at the Sportsground which unbelievably didnโ€™t even get a yellow cardโ€ฆ
