White: "I’m open to whatever McGregor is considering."

'Conor is tough to deny these days': Dana leaves door open for McGregor v Lawler superfight

Could McGregor fight for the welterweight title at UFC 200?

– Niall Kelly reports from Las Vegas

DANA WHITE HAS indicated that he will not stand in the way of a Conor McGregor versus Robbie Lawler superfight for the UFC welterweight title.

McGregor makes his debut at 170lbs against Nate Diaz on Saturday night, a massive 25lbs jump from the featherweight division where he is currently the world champion.

The Notorious was originally set to face Rafael dos Anjos for the lightweight title (155lbs) this weekend, but when the Brazilian pulled out with a foot injury, he jumped up another weight class.

McGregor is still targeting history as the first fighter to simultaneously hold belts at two weights but instead of dos Anjos, he now has his sights set on Lawler with a superfight at the landmark UFC 200 show in July looking increasingly possible.

“I’m open to whatever (McGregor) is considering doing,” White said at today’s UFC 196 press conference.

If he wants to fight at 170 and he wants to fight Robbie Lawler, Conor is tough to deny these days.

“Nobody has ever done this, 145lbs going to 170. When you talk about these guys, when the money is in the bank and they have all this opportunity, Conor really does step up and fight anybody anywhere any time.

“It’s impressive and this is what makes you love the fight business.”
