Dana White and Conor McGregor will meet next week to put 'speedbump' behind them

Diaz versus McGregor at UFC 202 “sounds good” to Dana.

DANA WHITE INSISTS that the relationship between Conor McGregor and the UFC is still “great” and the organisation’s president plans to meet with the featherweight champion next week to discuss business.

McGregor was at odds with the UFC last month when his refusal to travel to Las Vegas for a press conference saw him removed from the card at UFC 200 on 9 July, when the Irish star was due to face Nate Diaz in a rematch.

However, speaking today on The Dan Patrick Show, White reiterated that while McGregor won’t be featuring at UFC 200, he intends to discuss what’s next for the Dubliner when they meet next week.

“Conor and I have been talking every day,” said White. “We’re going to have dinner next week, our relationship is great and we’re going to put the little speedbump in the road that happened there behind us and move forward. Everything’s great.”

When asked if McGregor will face Diaz instead at UFC 202, which is expected to take place on 20 August, White responded: “Sounds like a good idea to me.”

He added: “We’re getting together next week and we’re going to figure out what’s next.”
