Dan Carter shows that age is just a number with a huge try-saving run

Rugby union’s highest test point-scorer is well able to defend too.

DAN CARTER’S PLACE as one of the finest rugby players ever is firmly cemented at this stage, but the veteran out-half showed that he still has the legs of a youngster during Racing’s loss to Bordeaux-Begles at the weekend.

Twenty minutes into the tie, Carter’s teammate, fellow former All Black Joe Rokocoko threw a pass that was picked off by Bordeaux’s Nans Ducuing close to his own 22.

Ducuing then sprinted the length of the pitch in what looked set to be the game’s opening try. Carter was having none of that, though.

Carter showed lightning-quick pace to catch up with Ducuing, tackle him, and recover possession. The try-saving tackle really showed how fit the 34-year-old icon still is.

Racing went on to ultimately lose 15-9 but, you know, it was still pretty cool.
