The bust unveiled at the newly-named Cristiano Ronaldo airport is pretty terrible

5,000 people showed up for the event in Madeira today.

CRISTIANO RONALDO IS being celebrated in his homeland of Madeira today.

A ceremony in honour of the Real Madrid star took place on the Portuguese island this afternoon, with President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa and Prime Minister Antonio Costa among the 5,000 people in attendance.

Madeira airport is being renamed after Portugal’s Euro 2016-winning captain and a bust of him was also unveiled.

“To see this airport bear my name is a very special thing,” said Ronaldo. “Everyone knows I am proud of my roots.”

The sculpture has raised a few eyebrows, however, with many questioning its likeness to the 32-year-old:
