Blow for Ulster and Ireland as Craig Gilroy is ruled out for three months

Wing has developed a stress fracture in his lower back.

CRAIG GILROY IS set to miss the first three months of the new season with a stress fracture in his lower back.

Ulster confirmed this morning that Gilroy will miss the beginning of the new Pro14 championship and the opening rounds of the European Champions Cup, as well as Ireland’s triple-header of November internationals.

The 26-year-old, who played against Wasps in pre-season earlier this month, is expected to be out of action until late November.

Ulster kick off the new season against the Toyota Cheetahs at the Kingspan Stadium on Friday night. Christian Lealiifano, John Cooney and Jean Deysel are all set to make their competitive debuts for the province.
