AND THE AWARD for the most over the top announcement of a 35-day emergency loan deal goes to… Coventry City.

They’ve picked up Joe Cole — remember him? — for the next couple of weeks and it seems like they can’t believe their luck.

“Welcome to #CCFC Joe Cole,” the club tweeted this evening.

“Yes actual Joe Cole. Seriously, Joe Cole. The real Joe Cole.”

Which begs the question: have they seen Joe Cole play lately?

Although maybe we’re just presuming that the tweet is excitable. Maybe it’s actually an apology.

    @Dave Murray: The snakes in the squad including the manager have all got one thing in common, they all hail from Dublin.
