You might be surprised at how Coutinho's stats compare with Di Maria's this season

Most football critics appear to agree that the Man United player has had a poor campaign.

Coutinho

GENERALLY SPEAKING, MOST football critics appear to agree that Angel Di Maria has had a poor season, while Player of the Year nominee Philippe Coutinho has thrived at Liverpool.

However, Sky Sports News’ stats paint a far more complex picture of the two player’s campaigns.

While Coutinho’s four goals is better than Di Maria’s three, the Argentine international is on top in terms of assists (8 to 4) and chances created (45 to 37).

And though the Liverpool attacker has had slightly more shots on goal (41 to 37), he has also had far greater time on the field to shoot (1,989 minutes compared with 1,481 minutes).

What do you think? Is Coutinho overrated? Does Di Maria deserve to be more appreciated? Or is this a case of lies, damned lies and statistics? Let us know in the comments section below.
