As It Happened: Cork v Limerick, All-Ireland senior hurling semi-final

A place in next month’s final was at stake as the Munster neighbours locked horns at Croke Park.

GOOD AFTERNOON AND welcome to our live coverage of today’s All-Ireland Hurling Championship semi-final between Cork and Limerick at Croke Park.

The teams have arrived, and the fans are continuing to flood into the ground with well over 70,000 expected to be in attendance today.

Paul O’Dwyer throws it in, a hurley goes flying, and we’re off.

Cork 0-2 Limerick 0-2 Swashbuckling burst by Darragh Fitzgibbon sees him fouled as he approaches goal. Pa Horgan converts the free. Darragh O’Donovan equalises up the other end.

Seamus Harnedy and Gearóid Hegarty have just exchanged scores. Super start. 0-2 to 0-2.

Cork 0-3 Limerick 0-2 - Fitzgibbon launches one over from 60 metres. Nice build-up by Mark Coleman and Sean O’Donoghue in the lead-up.

Limerick 0-5 Cork 0-3 - Limerick motoring now. Aaron Gillane gives them a two-point lead.

Limerick 0-5 Cork 0-4 - Horgan settles Cork with a free.

Limerick 0-6 Cork 0-4 - Huge chance for Aaron Gillane but he winds up booting the sliotar over the bar! Super catch after a beautiful diagonal ball in by Tom Morrissey, but Gillane – who lost his hurley in the tackle – should have converted, even with the boot.

Limerick 0-6 Cork 0-5 - Excellent team score by Cork. Sean O’Donoghue mops up with a fine challenge at the back and sets Daniel Kearney down the right-hand side. Kearney pops it inside to his skipper, Harnedy, who converts with precision. One-score game once more.

Limerick 0-7 Cork 0-5 - Seamus Flanagan shows nice composure after a fine catch and stretches Limerick’s lead with a fine score over his left-hand shoulder.

Poor wide by Luke Meade from the right flank when Harnedy seemed a better option inside.

Seven wides so far for Cork, and some of them have been easy opportunities.

Limerick 0-7 Cork 0-6 - Shane Kingston grabs his first point as he balloons one over from left-of-centre, 50 yards out.

Cork 0-7 Limerick 0-7 - Superb workrate from Harnedy to win the ball back in Limerick’s half and Meade this time picks the right option, laying it off to Kearney who levels.

Cork 0-8 Limerick 0-7 - Mark Coleman lands a monster strike and the Rebels have the lead. Three on the spin for Cork.

Limerick 0-8 Cork 0-8 - Limerick restore parity through a Gillane free. The sides have been level five times already.

Cork 0-9 Limerick 0-8 - Harnedy is in a bit of bother, here. The Cork captain carried a knock into the game, and is down hurt after a collision. Pa Horgan has converted the resulting free to restore Cork’s lead.

It was Richie English who caught Harnedy as he cut inside. No malice on English’s part. Harnedy is back on his feet.

Cork 0-10 Limerick 0-8 - Christopher Joyce gives Cork a two-point lead.

Gillane bears down on goal again, once more without his hurley, but he kicks another one wide!

Limerick 0-10 Cork 0-10 - Super footwork by Graeme Mulcahy and he brings Limerick back to within a point. It’s The Treaty’s first point in nearly eight minutes.

Moments later, the same man capitalises on a mistake by Damien Cahalane, and the teams are level for a sixth time.

Cork 0-11 Limerick 0-11 - Nickie Quaid seemed to lose the flight of a long ball in by Kearney, and as the ball comes down off the post Patrick Horgan flicks it just over the bar.

Down the other end, Graeme Mulcahy continues his one-man crusade and levels again!

Cork 0-12 Limerick 0-11 - What a save by Quaid! He diverts Shane Kingston’s goalbound effort over the bar.

Gillane misses a free down the other end. Limerick’s fifth wide. John Kiely is calling for Hawkeye from the sideline, but nothing doing.

Cork 0-13 Limerick 0-11 - Mark Coleman with a now-trademark sideline cut from the left-hand touchline. What a score.

Cork 0-14 Limerick 0-12 - Tom Morrissey detonates from long range. Another great score. Kearney responds for Cork with a lovely flick over the bar.

GOOOOOALLL FOR CIAN LYNCH! Limerick 1-12 Cork 0-14 - What a finish! Limerick lead on the stroke of half-time!

Lynch’s goal has edged Limerick into the lead after an entertaining first half which ebbed and flowed. The second could be a cracker.

Cork 0-17 Limerick 1-14 - Gillane gets his own third from play and Kearney brings Cork back level from the resulting puckout.

Cork 0-18 Limerick 1-15 - Fitzgibbon with another fine score for the Rebels. 11 times the sides have been level.

Cork 0-19 Limerick 1-15 -Lehane gives Cork the lead from close range.

What a save by Anthony Nash! Lynch is denied by the Kanturk ‘keeper!

Cork 0-20 Limerick 1-15 -Wow. Cork win a free up the other end following Nash’s save, and Horgan puts them two ahead.

Cork 0-20 Limerick 1-16 -Mulcahy flicks one over for Limerick.

Cork 0-21 Limerick 1-16 -Frantic passage of play results in another Horgan free which sails over. Harnedy was smothered and fouled near the Limerick goal.

Cork 0-22 Limerick 1-17 -Awful wide by Lehane is punished as Gillane closes the gap.

Cork 0-23 Limerick 1-17 - Horgan slots another dead ball after Shane Kingston was hauled down wide of Limerick’s goal.

Cork 1-24 Limerick 1-18 - Beautiful skill by Kearney to collect a sideline cut from Coleman. He lays it off to the on-fire Lehane who scores an outrageous point from the left sideline.

Cork 1-24 Limerick 1-19 -Shaner Dowling, only on the field a minute, converts a free from long range. Great effort.

Cork 1-26 Limerick 1-20 - Cork survive a massive goalmouth scramble and emerge with the ball. Fitzgibbon takes it in and lobs it over from close range.

Cork 1-26 Limerick 1-21 - Gillane converts a free after Eoin Cadogan is penalised for taking too many steps as he charged out of defence.
