PLAYERS FROM KILKENNY, Cork and Wexford are in the running for the main individual senior camogie award after the 2016 championship.
The award, a joint venture by the Camogie Association and the WGPA, will be contested by Cork’s Orla Cotter, Kilkenny’s Denise Gaule and Wexford’s Kate Kelly.
Gaule was central to Kilkenny’s All-Ireland and league successes. She scored 0-7 in their final win over Cork while also winning Player of the Match in the semi-final victory over Galway.
Cotter helped Cork reach another decider and hit 1-2 as their three-in-a-row bid was foiled at the final hurdle, while Kelly lined out for semi-finalists Wexford and scored 0-8 in their last four loss to Cork.
The intermediate award will be a Kilkenny and Cork contest with Jenny Clifford and Ciara Holden in contention from the champions Kilkenny while Linda Collins is the Cork representative.
