7 changes for Cork team to face Derry as Mayo switch goalkeepers

The teams clash in Celtic Park and MacHale Park on Sunday afternoon.

CORK HAVE RUNG the change for Sunday’s long trip to play Derry in Division 1 of the Allianz football league.

The Rebels have already secured a semi-final spot and face a Derry team that were relegated after losing to Dublin last Saturday. Injuries and U21 football commitments have robbed manager Brian Cuthbert of several players.

He’s brought Tom Clancy in at corner-back, Stephen O’Donoghue at centre-back and Patrick Kelly at midfield. The attack sees John O’Rourke and Barry O’Driscoll come in to fill the wing-forward slots while Daniel Goulding and John Hayes will start in the corner-forward positions.

James Loughrey, Brian Hurley, Colm O’Neill along Kevin and Colm O’Driscoll, drop to the bench while injury rules out Jamie O’Sullivan and Brian O’Driscoll is tied up with U21 commitments ahead of next Thursday’s Munster final.

An interesting inclusion amongst the substitutes is goalkeeper Paddy O’Shea, who was part of the Cork squad that won the All-Ireland in 2010 but then left the panel in early 2011. Injuries also rule out Eoin Cadogan, Donncha O’Connor and Ruairi Deane for Cork.
