CORK CITY HOLD a 14-point lead at the top of the Premier Division after a 12th straight win was achieved in straightforward fashion against Finn Harps at Turner’s Cross tonight.
Four second-half goals buttressed a 1-0 half-time lead for John Caulfield’s side, whose superiority was never in doubt, even though chances weren’t overly plentiful in the first half.
Even so, Stephen Dooley’s early goal, after a corner was kept alive by Jimmy Keohane, ensured that they were on top, notwithstanding a Caolán McAleer effort for Harps, while Ciarán Gallagher did well to deny Gearoid Morrissey.

Keohane went close early in the second half and Karl Sheppard was denied what looked to be a good goal by an offside flag, before Maguire lofted the ball over Gallagher from Ryan Delaney’s clearance just before the hour.
Sheppard could have had a third but for great covering by Gareth Harkin, but Morrissey did extend the lead on 79, profiting from Maguire’s ball back across after Dooley’s corner and then Delaney headed home after a corner by Kevin O’Connor.
