DUBLIN CHAMPIONS CUALA are through to the semi-final of this year’s Leinster senior club hurling championship after a thoroughly impressive victory over Offaly side Coolderry at a wet and miserable O’Connor Park in Tullamore.
Traditionally, teams from the capital have struggled in the provincial championship but the Dalkey outfit started to pull away as early after twenty minutes and hardly ever looked back.
It was nip and tuck early on before Coolderry’s concession of a number of soft frees led to David Treacy pointing a collection of scores while Sean Moran and Darragh O’Connell ensured Cuala eased into a six-point lead at the break.

Treacy continued to display his free-taking talents after the restart before Cian Waldron put them seven ahead after intercepting a puck-out from Stephen Corcoran.
Any slight hope the local outfit had of staging a comeback was all but over when their captain Brian Carroll was given a straight red card after an off-the-ball incident.

Corcoran made a great save from Mark Schutte moments later but the inter-county star wasn’t to be denied and dispatched to the net shortly after to put the final nail in the Coolderry coffin.
Cuala will face Kilkenny champions Clara in the Leinster final-four .
