McGregor's UFC title fight could be off after reports of injury to Aldo

Reports from Brazil suggest the featherweight champion has broken a rib while sparring.

JUST THREE WEEKS out from UFC 189, the headline fight has been thrown into doubt.

Ireland’s top MMA fighter Conor McGregor is scheduled to face Brazilian champion Jose Aldo for the featherweight world title at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand on 11 July.

However, reports this evening suggest that Aldo has picked up an injury in training, which could rule him out of the much-anticipated bout. Brazilian MMA correspondent Ana Hissa tweeted:

A source close to McGregor’s camp told The42 that the fight hasn’t yet been pulled but alternative options are being discussed at the moment.

Joseph Duffy, the last man to defeat McGregor back in 2010, is one of several fighters who has already offered to step in and fight the Dubliner instead.
