McGregor has no chance of beating Mayweather - Aldo

The Brazilian doesn’t rate the UFC lightweight champion’s chances in the boxing ring.

CONOR MCGREGOR WOULD have no chance of beating Floyd Mayweather Jr under boxing rules, says his long-time rival Jose Aldo.

The prospect of a cross-combat bout between retired boxing legend Mayweather and UFC star McGregor gathered pace when the former stated a blockbuster battle could happen at the end of the year or in early 2018.

Aldo was shocked by McGregor at UFC 194 in December 2015 when the Irishman knocked out his opponent in just 13 seconds to win the UFC featherweight championship.

McGregor, who since became the first man to hold titles in two divisions at the same time in UFC, has been involved in a back-and-forth spat with Mayweather and claimed the American is scared to face him.

But Aldo can only see one outcome if the two do mix it in the ring.

“First of all, we don’t know if it will happen or not,” Aldo said in quotes reported by mmafighting.com.

“There are a lot of things involved, mainly McGregor has a contract to follow so it’s hard to happen, but if it happens, I don’t think he has a chance.

Mayweather has the experience of competing for years in the sport of boxing, so I don’t see how.

“Of course, it’s a fight, but it’s hard for us MMA fighters to go to a different world challenging one of the best in the history. I don’t see a result different than a win for Mayweather.”
